Half a teaspoon, a mug of water and about ten seconds. Original is the unflavoured starting point of Herbalife's instant tea: black and green tea extracts with a hint of hibiscus and cardamom.
About
Original has no added sweetener, so it tastes like tea rather than a fruit drink. It works hot on a grey British morning or iced in July. The same selector lets you switch to Lemon, Raspberry or Peach.
Each serving contains 87.5 mg of caffeine. Caffeine helps to increase alertness and improve concentration. There is no authorised claim that this tea boosts metabolism, and we will not pretend otherwise.
How to use
- Shake the tub. A gentle shake mixes any settled powder.
- Measure small. Stir half a teaspoon (1.7 g) into 200 to 240 ml of hot or cold water.
- Stop at two. Herbalife recommends one or two glasses a day.
For a jug of iced tea, add 2.5 teaspoons to a litre of water with orange slices and ice. Store with the lid closed.
Keep total caffeine from all sources under 400 mg a day, or 200 mg if pregnant or breastfeeding, and no more than 200 mg in one go. Two cups of this tea come to 175 mg before your coffee.

Frequently asked questions
How strong is it compared with a cup of coffee?
A serving has 87.5 mg of caffeine. The NHS puts a mug of instant coffee at around 100 mg, so it is in similar territory.
What can this tea claim, and what can it not?
There is no authorised health claim about metabolism. What caffeine can claim is increased alertness and improved concentration.
Why is the serving only half a teaspoon?
It is a concentrated instant extract, so 51 g makes 30 servings. A heaped spoon doubles the caffeine as well as the flavour.
Can I drink it in the afternoon?
You can, but caffeine lingers. If sleep is fragile, keep your last cup well before evening.
Which flavour is sweetened?
Original has no sweeteners. Lemon and Raspberry use stevia, and Peach uses a different recipe with fructose and acesulfame K.
