A berry drink in a sachet, with vitamins C and D, zinc and selenium. Handy in a coat pocket through a British winter when the office cold does the rounds.

About

Each sachet mixes into a glass of water and contains EpiCor, a dried yeast fermentate, plus elderberry juice powder and four micronutrients. It is suitable for vegans and gluten-free, sweetened with stevia.

A serving is high in vitamin D, vitamin C, zinc and selenium. Vitamin D, vitamin C, zinc and selenium each contribute to normal immune system function. Vitamin C, zinc and selenium also contribute to protecting cells from oxidative stress.

That is the extent of the claims. It will not stop you catching a cold, and no supplement can promise that.

How to use

  1. Pour. Empty one sachet (3.7 g) into 150 ml of water.
  2. Stir. Mix until dissolved.
  3. Timing. Drink one glass a day with a meal.
  4. Limit. Do not exceed one sachet a day.

Frequently asked questions

What is EpiCor?

A dried fermentate made using Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. There is no authorised health claim for it, so the claims here rest on the vitamins and minerals.

Can I take it alongside a multivitamin?

Check the totals. Vitamin D in particular adds up, so compare labels or ask a pharmacist.

Does it taste of yeast?

No, the flavour is berry, helped along by elderberry juice powder.

Can children have it?

Food supplements like this are aimed at adults. Ask your GP or pharmacist before giving it to a child.

Is vitamin D worth taking in the UK winter?

The NHS advises everyone to consider 10 µg of vitamin D a day in autumn and winter. One sachet provides that amount.
