A lemon bar dipped in milk chocolate sounds like a dessert. This one carries 10 g of milk protein for 139 kcal, which makes it a far more useful 3pm companion.

About

Each bar is chewy, lemon-flavoured and coated in milk chocolate. Protein contributes to a growth in muscle mass and to the maintenance of muscle mass. The bars also add B vitamins, including B6 and B12.

The same box comes in Vanilla Almond. Switch with the selector if you prefer nuts to citrus. Find crisps and meal bars in protein snacks and bars.

How to use

  1. Pick your moment. Eat one bar as a snack between meals.
  2. Cap it. Herbalife suggests one or two bars a day.
  3. Carry spares. They live happily in a bag or desk drawer, kept cool and dry.

These are snacks, not meal replacements. For a bar that replaces a meal, see the Formula 1 Express bars.

Frequently asked questions

Are these bars vegetarian?

No. Both flavours contain gelatine, which is animal-derived.

Is the lemon flavour sharp?

It is a soft citrus flavour, balanced by the milk chocolate coating. Think lemon cake rather than lemon juice.

Can a protein bar replace lunch?

Not this one. At 139 kcal it is designed as a snack. Formula 1 Express bars are the meal replacement option.

Where does the protein come from?

Milk proteins: calcium caseinate, whey protein, sodium caseinate and milk protein concentrate.

Will they melt in a warm car?

The chocolate coating can soften in heat. Keep the box somewhere cool and dry.
