Bones do their best work quietly, and so does Xtra-Cal. Three small tablets a day, taken with meals, add calcium, vitamin D and four supporting minerals to your routine.

About

A daily dose provides 999 mg of calcium, which is 125% of the reference intake. Calcium is needed for the maintenance of normal bones and teeth. Vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium, and to the maintenance of normal muscle function.

For context, the NHS says adults aged 19 to 64 need 700 mg of calcium a day, and most can get it from food. The NHS also suggests considering 10 micrograms of vitamin D daily in autumn and winter. Xtra-Cal gives 2.3 micrograms, so it does not replace a dedicated vitamin D supplement. See the full vitamins and supplements range.

How to use

  1. Breakfast. One tablet with your first meal.
  2. Lunch. One tablet with your midday meal.
  3. Dinner. One tablet with your evening meal.

Do not exceed three tablets a day. Store with the lid closed, somewhere cool, dry and out of reach of young children.

Frequently asked questions

Why split the dose across three meals?

That is how Herbalife directs it, one tablet with each main meal. It also keeps the routine easy to remember.

Does Xtra-Cal count as my winter vitamin D?

Not fully. It gives 2.3 micrograms per day, while the NHS suggests 10 micrograms in autumn and winter. Check with a pharmacist before combining products.

Can I take it with a multivitamin?

Usually, but add up the calcium, zinc and copper across everything. If you take prescribed medicine, ask your pharmacist about timing.

Is it suitable for vegans?

Herbalife does not describe it as vegan. Ingredients such as fatty acids and vitamin D can come from animal sources, so check the pack or ask us before ordering.

I eat plenty of dairy. Do I need this?

Possibly not. Many people meet their calcium needs from milk, cheese, yoghurt and fortified foods. A supplement fills gaps, not a full plate.
